Full Blood Moon in Virgo, March 3rd 2026: Take a Moment to Process
The full moon is rolling around again tomorrow, and this month there will be a total lunar eclipse visible in parts of Asia and the east coast of North America. This eclipse will be taking place in Virgo, scaffolded by some other interesting astrology going on during the eclipse and in the surrounding days. One of the most important things to note in the sky alongside the eclipse is that Mercury is in retrograde until the 20th. Along with the movement of Venus into Aries on the 5th, this all points to March being a difficult transition period. Difficulty doesn’t mean there won’t be useful lessons along the way, as an eclipse is a time when revelation is accessible. As much as it is important to be out in the world fighting evil, it is equally as important to engage in community care, self care, and processing of everything that’s been happening. It is so easy in the age of the doomscroll to stretch our metaphorical information stomachs to the point of bursting without ever taking a moment to digest. It is in that digestion of information that new creation, new ideas, new direction can come into focus.
I know a lot of the witchcraft community has been hexing lately. We’ve been righteously angry, and doing everything we can, from the most public outcries to the most private rituals in an effort to help the crumbling world.
On this eclipse, it is time to turn off. Allow yourself time to listen, to recuperate, to digest, to process. Tonight is a good night to let yourself cry, if you’ve been bottling up some emotions. Try to sit in quiet, and take a bath, do some self massage, or just take a ritual nap. Let your mind wander the woods, and let whatever realizations come up inside for consideration.
From the perspective of the wheel of the year, we are coming to the end of winter, and finding ourselves about halfway between Imbolc and Ostara. We’ve seen the ground begin to thaw, and soon the first flowers will come up to mark the equinox, and the time when spring really has begun in earnest. There is the old saying, that March comes in like a lion, and goes out like a lamb, and the astrology of the month seems to line up well to amplify that sentiment. On the equinox we will finally get to see Mercury exit retrograde, the weather will be warmer, and it will be a wonderful time to reconnect with our communities and start building big things again.
March 3rd at 6:30 pm, Spirit Night Coven will be meeting and welcoming guests at the Asotin County Public Library for a post-eclipse grounding and centering session. We will be doing some gentle moving, breathing exercises, and surely some chit-chat to get the built up gunk out of our systems!
