Moon News: September 2026
On September 26, 2026, the full moon will take place in Aries at 9:48 am. The aspects affecting the moon in the morning will be a trine to Mars, a conjunction with Neptune, and a sextile with Pluto. The trine with Mars in Cancer (Mars is in fall here, which means it does not work smoothly with the energy of the sign,) which rules this lunation, will bolster the aggressive self assuredness of Aries, while also bringing the emotionality of Cancer to the party. This means that emotions might not be as controlled as we’d like them to be. You might feel like you’re ready to burst, especially if you have planets in those two signs in your birth chart. Knowing that this might be a problem, take the time to make sure you have extra support emotionally and sensorally on Saturday. Get out the calming fidget toys, light a candle, and try to chill a bit. Or lean into this energy and let yourself cry out all the angry tears you need.
The Moon will also be strongly aspected by the outer planets on Saturday, through the conjunction with Neptune and the sextile Pluto. By the evening a conjunction will be forming with Saturn as well as another sextile with Uranus. That is a lot of strong aspects forming to this full moon. The outer planets are the slowest planets that tend to move over and affect generations of the collective rather than individuals as they move through the signs. This means that all the aspects on this full moon might be related to a shift in collective consciousness, rather than just thoughts moving on an individual basis. I have hope that the best energy of this full moon will manifest itself as a collective catharsis. Perhaps it will involve mourning of a world we once dreamed about, but that mourning will make room for us to dream the new dream of how to move toward progress in the world that exists in front of us now.
Looking at how the Tarot relates to the astrology of this full moon, we have an interesting set of cards. First the moon corresponds to the high priestess, the part of us that knows before knowing. She is moving through Aries, which corresponds to the Emperor, the part of us which acts with the certainty of powerful authority. The Moon will be exactly placed at 3 degrees Aries, which is within the decan of Mars in Aries, corresponding to the 2 of Wands in the Tarot. This card depicts the moment of planning some great adventure (or conquest) across the world. The figure on the card holds a globe like he already owns the whole earth, even before stepping foot into it.
But Mars won’t be at home in Aries on Saturday, as this decan depicts. Mars, represented by the Tower card, will be in the third decan of Cancer (Cancer represented by the moon card,) the decan of the moon at home in Cancer, which corresponds to the 4 of Cups, a card which has to do with with inaction, careful choices, meditation and the acceptance of dissatisfaction in building emotional stability. It makes sense that Mars isn’t feeling his most at home here— he is surrounded by the moon everywhere he looks, between the moon in his home sign, the moon ruling the sign he’s visiting, and even ruling the decan he’s passing through. This full moon is ruled by a Mars that is outside his comfort zone and being forced to confront feelings he doesn't really want to deal with. No matter how much we push ourselves into action and keep moving forward, eventually we will be confronted with the fact that we have an inner world which also needs attention.
For our Full Moon Portion of the meeting on Saturday, Spirit Night Coven will be doing a simple ritual to welcome the harvest moon, with an emphasis on nurturing lunar intuition, and opening up emotions, before we have our harvest feast potluck!

Supplies:
Candles and Matches, Ritual Text, Cups and Drink,
At the set table laid with candles and cups, cast your circle.
Light the candles.
Call in the moon goddess.
Get Comfy and do some deep breathing techniques. These will be facilitated at the meeting, if you’re doing a ritual at home you can follow your own preferred routine.

I welcome the coming of the crone.
I welcome the harvest,
I welcome decay,
I welcome the coming of the cold,
Results of the gift of life.
The moon is full,

The chase of life and death,
The never ending circle.

Tonight our cups are full as the moon.
